  • Notes
    • Other than the name of her mother, nothing else is known about the Mathis family with certainty. In the 1799 Henderson County, Kentucky tax roll, a "Morton and Danial Mathis" were listed as paying taxes on property in Lost Creek Walkers Settlement on 1 July of that year. In the household were two white males over the age of 21, and two white males under 16. They had no hogs, horses or mules which, as personal property, would have affected their tax rate. Other records show that the names of these men were actually Martin and Daniel, names which William and Ann bestowed upon two of their sons.

Martin and Daniel are said to have been sons of William Mathis. However, there is no proof yet that Ann was a sister of these two men. This connection is totally based on supposition. [6, 7]
